Council considers a 7% tax rise in 2025/26 to address a £16 million shortfall. Final decision expected next week.

They have to find savings to cover a large shortfall, as the council needs to find almost £16 million. Documents show proposed changes to address this need, and these documents are available before their meeting.
Council tax might rise by seven percent from April. The Ayrshire Valuation Joint Board sets property bands, deciding how much you pay. Below are the new costs for each property band.
Band A will owe £1,035.84, up £67.76. Band B will owe £1,208.48, an increase of £79.06. Band C will owe £1,381.12, with the increase equating to £90.35. Band D will owe £1,553.77, a rise of £101.65.
Band E’s council tax will be £2,041.48, which is £133.56 more. Band F will owe £2,524.87, that is £165.18 higher than now. Band G will owe £3,042.79, up £199.06. Band H will then owe £3,806.73, an increase of £249.04.
This council tax rise is not yet final, as the council’s budget decision could still change it. Next week, the council makes its final budget choice; so the amounts could be subject to change.
