North Ayrshire Foodbank needs public support. Donations ensure vital community help amid increasing demand.

Craig aims to empower people, supporting them to become self-sufficient. The food bank allows community help, ensuring people get support without feeling isolated. The community embraces and involves them.
They estimate needing 40 to 50 tonnes of food this year. Food banks shouldn’t need to exist, but they are vital now, Craig says, as demand is high and donations have shifted recently.
The food bank assisted 5,000 people last year, between December 2023 and November. They have a Glasgow Street hub and 13 other locations. The service recently marked its 12th year, operating across North Ayrshire towns.
The food bank will open a larder in Ardrossan, located in the Community Craft Shop. They also hope to open a community fridge, which will be a food exchange focused on reducing food waste. Anyone can take food for free and people can donate food they won’t use in time.
