A look at Ardrossan harbor work, school donations, Burns contests and student trips fifteen years ago in North Ayrshire.

A big project started in Ardrossan way back in 2010. It cost £180,000 to fix up a main spot. They tore down part of the Harbour Inn, which people used to call Nicols. The Irvine Bay Regeneration Company thought it was unsafe and removed the wall to make it better. The plan included a new roof, with the hope that a buyer would then appear.
Dalry Burns Club held a contest in February 2010, and these kids won! Robert Barr from the Burns Club appears in the photo, along with Kerry McMillan from Magnox North. Myra Sim helped out with the music too.
Local Rotary Clubs gave money to James McFarlane School, donating £10,081.88. This school in Ardrossan helps special needs students. The clubs presented the check in February 2010.
Stanley Primary pupils had fun in February 2010 as they celebrated Scottish poetry together. The students enjoyed a Scottish Verse Assembly.
John McCafferty, an athlete from Stevenston, got a cool opportunity. He headed to France to represent Great Britain in the heptathlon. John was only 18 during the event.
Ardrossan Academy pupils visited London during February 2010. The students appear to have had a marvelous time.
