Hey, listen to this news! North Yorkshire Council started upgrades on Low Street. It’s in Sherburn-in-Elmet, near Tadcaster. They’re fixing the east side.

They are replacing bad surfaces, like damaged stones and yucky sidewalks. Blocked drains also get fixed. New parking spaces will appear, and they plan to install new benches, signs, and a town map.

Mark Crane said it makes the town better, aiming for a welcoming, safe place. He noted that parking was unclear, and infrastructure was broken. He hopes businesses thrive there.

The project has up to £800,000 and will improve Sherburn-in-Elmet. The work will take about six months total, and they will do it in phases to avoid huge disruptions. It impacts the area by The Swan to Starkey’s Butchers.

Jonathan France, owner of The Fish Bank, said Sherburn has a great street where you can find most things. It means people need not leave town, and he noted new families moving there. A nicer looking street helps all.

The government helps pay through a special fund that North Yorkshire Council manages. Carl Les said towns should thrive, and he hopes this boosts pride.

Sherburn-in-Elmet Town Council also supports it. Bob Packham likes the plan a lot because Low Street’s condition is worrying him. Better streets help businesses and those living there.

Align Property Partners made the designs. Richard Gale feels happy to start and hopes locals like the updates. They worked with the council closely.
