Hey, so they’re looking at spots for new buildings. It’s happening in the Richmondshire area now. People suggested dozens of locations to them, including green spaces between Catterick Garrison and Colburn.

A big piece of land near Horne Road, located west of Catterick Garrison, is also suggested. Several plots in nearby areas are under consideration too. Catterick Village, Scorton, and Brompton-on-Swale may see development. Richmond also has land near Westfields and Hurgill Road involved.

Land on Leyburn’s edge is being considered by officials, as are fields near Redmire, a village in Wensleydale. The council said appearing on the list doesn’t guarantee approval. They are developing a plan for future needs, including housing and employment.

The council needs to decide how North Yorkshire will grow and will also assess each location individually. Only then can preferred sites be chosen. You cannot comment on these sites yet. Later, they’ll ask for public input after they finish more detailed work.

The government wants North Yorkshire to build many houses. They need to build 4,077 houses each year now, which is a lot more than before! They are using old plans for now; these plans came from older councils which used to exist.
