The council shared a traffic change idea on Thursday, February 13: making Kingsway one-way. Kingsway, linking Chester Way and Victoria Road, would allow cars to only travel south.

The council says this idea stemmed from discussions during the Active Travel Scheme work. Kingsway, with parking on both sides, effectively acts as a narrow, one-lane road.

This situation leads some drivers to speed up, attempting to pass before oncoming cars arrive from Chester Road or Victoria Road. The council aims to eliminate this speeding.

The proposed one-way change is intended to resolve this issue. A council person mentioned that discussions about a one-way system occurred in December 2023 as part of the Active Travel scheme talks. The existing double parking creates a single lane, prompting many drivers to speed up to get through quickly, although most showed support for one-way traffic going south.

Details of the plan are available at the council’s highway office on Browning Way, Winsford. If you disagree, submit your written objection to the council by Monday, March 10, referencing PTRO800 in your letter.
