Derelict Swindon campus transforming. £4.4M investment for 10 flats, 6 houses, zero carbon, renewable energy and public space.

Swindon Borough Council has a plan. They’re spending £4.4 million on a new project. It’s going to be pretty cool for the area. The plan includes new homes.
Ten flats and six houses are planned. These houses will have three bedrooms each. A large public open space is part of it too. They will add trees and landscaping.
Also, electric car chargers are planned. There will be a car park and bike storage. It should be pretty convenient. The homes will be zero carbon, and high quality.
They will use renewable energy like solar panels. Air source heat pumps are planned too. They will even collect rainwater. The council will submit plans later this year.
The new homes will be near Nationwide’s housing. They’ll use similar materials to blend in nicely. Emma Bushell talked about the project. She is a leader in the Swindon Borough Council.
She said the plan has been in the works. Some might miss the old building, she said. She hopes people will like the new homes. The homes will also save residents money.
The development will make Swindon greener too. She hopes they will create a fairer and better town. The project is great and includes a park. Buckhurst Field will also get improvements.
This is thanks to the Oakfield Community Fund. The council manages this with Nationwide. The improvements include a play area that costs £75,500. They will put £155,830 into the skate park too. Also, £70,000 goes to the sports pavilion.
