The Old Grey Mare in Clifton Green reopens February 21 under Brew York after closing last July, promising a welcoming pub.

Brew York thanked everyone for waiting. They refurbished the pub and look forward to showing the changes. They want to make it a welcoming place.
Brew York announced this takeover in December. The pub is historic, dating back to the 1600s and is their seventh location. It had a big update in 2022 when a large outdoor seating area was added.
Brew York started in 2016 by Wayne Smith and Lee Grabham. They opened their tap room in Walmgate and brew their beer there, too.
Wayne Smith is excited about the reopening. He wants to restore the pub to Clifton’s heart, and expanding in York is a privilege for them. They want a place for all to enjoy, offering good beer and food, with Yuzu helping because they are good friends.
The pub was once The Old Grey Horse in the early 1800s. By 1902, it had multiple rooms where people socialized often.
The Old Grey Mare has a license to open daily from 7 AM to 12:30 AM. They can show films and sports, as live music and dancing are allowed. They can sell alcohol, and the restaurant can serve until 10:30 PM. The outside area can stay open until 11:30 PM.
