Inquiry begins February 20 after plans for 315 homes, a heritage center, and more, near Salisbury, faced rejection.

The plan included more than houses. It featured a control tower, ideas for a heritage center, and a visitor center. A café, restaurant, and parachute center were also in the plan.
People voiced their worries to officials, raising concerns about local impacts. They feared for the airfield’s future, and a petition highlighted these issues.
Grenville Hodge, director of Old Sarum Airfield Ltd, stated his view, noting support from key groups. Historic England and Natural England also approved of the idea.
Salisbury City Council disagreed strongly. Mr. Hodge will make his case to persuade Nick Fagan, a government planning inspector. The hearing starts February 20 at 10 am and will last six days.
The hearing happens at Best Western Red Lion hotel. Both the planning authority and the appellant will attend.
A previous application was also refused in 2015. It went to appeal and the High Court but still did not succeed.
