A resident was shocked to spot an otter in the Sankey Canal, capturing amazing pictures of the rare sighting!

Zack saw something in the Sankey Canal water. Something splashed around a lot. He watched it diving and popping up; he did not think too much about it.
Then, he noticed an animal floating. He couldn’t tell what animal it was, so Zack stopped for a closer look. He was really surprised!
It was an otter in the canal. Zack could not believe his own eyes. He has lived there for over ten years and often walks by the canals, yet he had never seen an otter before.
Zack and his kids watched, amazed by the otter. The sweet otter actually swam closer and approached the canal’s bank. He managed to snap some pictures of it.
Cheshire Wildlife Trust confirmed his sighting. It was indeed an otter they had spotted, as otters can live in clean freshwater areas and also need a source of food.
A spokesperson from the Trust suggested reporting the sighting to rECOrd. rECOrd collects data on animals and they can offer more details.
Cheshire Wildlife Trust says otter numbers are low there, even though otter populations increased elsewhere.
