Efforts continue to secure funds for stabilising Overstrand cliffs after a recent landslide prompted safety measures.

A landslide happened last month. They closed the area after it happened for safety. Councillors already approved this year’s budget, but it didn’t include money for these repairs. Officials said the cliff face is unstable and needs fixing soon.
They haven’t budgeted for it yet and don’t know the repair cost. They are also checking for outside funding. Angie Fitch-Tillet asked about funding. She is a councillor for Overstrand, and she said they need clear answers.
The money could come from different places, including the council or other agencies. Mr. Blathwayt said they explore every possibility. They’ll keep everyone updated.
Overstrand is east of Cromer and faces coastal erosion issues. That area erodes quickly. Nearby villages like Happisburgh face this, too. Engineers looked at the recent landslip.
The damage seems small now, but it could get worse, though. People should stay away from the cliffs for their safety. They should avoid the cliff top and base, as the high water prevents accessing the promenade.
