An inquest is underway for Nicholas Macer, 50, found near his home in the Oxford Canal, December 18, with a cause of death of drowning.

An inquest started on Monday, February 3 at the Oxford Coroner’s Court. They are looking into what happened.
He was found near his home in the Oxford Canal. Someone called for help around 8:50 am, and it was the ambulance service that went to Mount Place.
A doctor examined his body, determining the cause of death as drowning. They also found multiple drugs in his system, including cocaine and methadone, and he had liver disease.
People felt sad about Nick’s death. They said they truly loved him, and he always made the day better.
His daughter, Amber Macer, spoke to the newspaper, saying her dad was loved by many. He made people smile with his stories, and she knows he will be missed very much.
Dale Macer also shared words, saying rest in peace to his friend. He promised to care for Amber and her mum, and said he loved his mate.
The coroner will investigate his death on May 12 at 10am. The coroner’s name is Nicholas Graham.
