Residents of Oxford express anger as a bin remains uncollected for six months due to gravel dumping.

The bin truck couldn’t empty it, and trash began to pile up around the bin. It sat there for months while residents repeatedly called the council to fix the problem.
One resident complained in July, knowing the bin men wouldn’t handle it. She feels the area looks uncared for and said it should be a nice place; this situation made her feel depressed.
Fly-tipping has been a problem there, though the council usually removes the rubbish. They finally brought a new bin and removed the old one last week after the Oxford Mail contacted them.
Residents had contacted the council before and all received different responses. One resident wants clearer staff responsibilities so it’s clear who handles such issues.
Councillor Linda Smith, who represents Blackbird Leys, hadn’t heard about it but will investigate what happened and wants to prevent future delays. She urged residents with problems to contact councillors.
Oxford City Council will fix the issue fast and wants to improve their processes to prevent it from repeating. Oxford Direct Services collects the rubbish for the city council.
