An unused underground public toilet near Oxford Street will become a bar after a long closure.

Nobody wanted to reopen them as toilets. The council said fixing them would cost a lot. SCP Estate wants to make a bar. They asked the council for permission.
The bar could open seven days a week. Hours would be 11 AM to 11 PM. Sunday closing time would be 10:30 PM. Only 34 people can be inside at once. The applicant said it makes good use of the space.
The council had tried to sell or lease the place. No one wanted it as toilets for over three years. The company made an offer. A council member asked about bad behavior.
He was told the toilets had some problems. Drug use and vandalism had occurred there already. Other old public toilets now are bars or shops.
WC Clapham is one example. So is Attendant coffee roasters in Fitzrovia. Bermondsey Arts Club did the same thing as well.
