A collapsed wall in Witney, Oxfordshire, damaged property, prompting urgent demolition to prevent further incidents.

The fallen wall damaged a nearby garage. Sarah Galloway owns property on Lowell Place. She said her garden got covered in rocks.
The wall used to be part of a building. The other parts got torn down to build houses, forming the six homes now on Butcher’s Court. This wall remained standing as a divider, separating Lowell Place from the new building.
Sarah thinks the wall was unstable and not meant to stand alone. Falling rocks kept bothering her, too. Though folks said the wall wasn’t an immediate threat.
Sanctuary Housing manages Butchers Court. They were initially too busy to check the wall, with the initial assessment set for March 5th. However, after seeing photos of the damage, they sent someone out on February 10th.
The assessor said the wall needed to come down, believing another collapse was very close. Trucks were sent to demolish it on February 11th.
