The Lawns in Radley will have a 20mph speed limit after council approval, improving safety for road users.

The official report says safety will improve, covering all road users there. The council wants new housing areas to have lower speeds. This new speed limit makes the area standard. They asked the public what they thought.
The consultation happened late last year and early this year. It ran from December 19, 2024 to January 24, 2025. Most people liked the idea. Twenty-five people supported the speed limit change. Two didn’t object, while one person objected.
Kennington Parish Council said they supported it too. According to them it’s a sensible speed. Other local roads already have a 20mph limit. This change makes sense to them.
Respondents said walking and cycling would be safer because it applies to the whole residential area. People said it should be safer there.
A group called Coalition for Healthy Streets also supports it. Robin Tucker leads the group. He said ‘The Lawns’ is all houses and he agrees with the 20mph limit. He also said this is sensible because people walk, cycle, and kids play a lot there.
Last month, the council okayed more 20mph zones. Didcot will have more. Four villages will also get them. Those villages are East Challow, Beckley, Eye & Dunsden, and Shenington with Alkerton.
