Laxton Properties plans houses for High Street’s Charlton-on-Otmoor Services, submitted to Cherwell District Council.

The plan includes two two-bedroom homes and two three-bedroom homes. Two four-bedroom homes complete it.
A similar plan existed back in 2008 for six homes. The council rejected it at that time, stating it was inappropriate for the green belt.
The site is within Oxford’s Green Belt, but the plan calls it a brownfield site. Agricultural barns sit east and south of the site.
The plan says their design integrates new homes and blends them into the surrounding area. They took care to protect privacy between the new homes and existing properties.
The land is previously developed, classifying it as a brownfield site. They aim to replace an existing business, the coach business, which is winding down as the owners are past retirement age.
Proposed homes have lower eaves than current buildings there. The plan “greens” the brownfield site significantly and removes a use deemed inappropriate.
