Havering Council halts Palms Hotel construction for not following extension approval details.

The hotel got approval for an extension last May. It was for the side and front of the building. But, they didn’t follow the approval details. The hotel’s renovation cost millions. It started back in 1971.
The council said the hotel lacked detail. They didn’t meet landscaping rules. The rules said, “no work above ground.” It needed council approval of landscaping first.
The council thought the landscaping plans were “insufficient.” So, the hotel must stop all building work. This pause lasts until they meet the conditions.
Suresh Konduru is a hotel director. He said they understand the need to follow rules. He also said they want to fix it quickly. Landscaping already happened in the front and back.
There are palm trees and plants. These enhance the hotel’s look, he explained. The hotel wanted to show their efforts to the council. They were putting the plans together.
Planting is on hold, waiting for good weather. The work should have taken 8 to 12 more weeks. They stopped all building on the new extensions. The hotel’s team talks to the officers directly. They want advice to align with all rules.
The hotel wants to resolve the compliance issues. They said they are helping the local Havering community.
