Patients face parking problems caused by shoppers and construction workers, prompting action by the NHS and local council.

Some even park in disabled spots when they shouldn’t. A local councillor, Guy Gillbe, got involved. He contacted NHS Property Services about it, and the NHS said they’re taking action.
Others are using the car park too. Construction workers and residents are parking there. Even town center visitors park there. Signs and warnings didn’t help much at all.
So, they are doing more, officially. They complained to the construction company. The company said their workers won’t park there now. They will install bollards at the car park entrance. This should block overnight parking by residents. This work should start in the coming weeks.
They also plan to use ANPR this year. This will allow only patients and staff to use the car park. Repeat offenders will get fines.
A new health center is being built there. It’s in the town center health center’s car park. Councillors approved it last September. Construction started in December.
The new center will have more services. It will include a GP, children’s services, and maternity hub. Podiatry, therapy, and speech services will be there too.
The old building is outdated, they said. Planners claimed it limits the services they offer. The old site will become mostly office space. Dentistry and other services will still operate there.
The new center helps more patients daily. It increases from 659 to 701 patients. Staff will increase as well, from 42 to 48. The NHS hopes it opens this year.
