Jim Thorburn spoke at a council meeting Monday. He thinks someone will get hurt soon. Action must occur, he told the group.

Annan Athletic’s fields are used a lot. Local sports clubs play there weeknights, which causes chaos on North Street. Picking up and dropping off players creates problems.

Jim said parking is everywhere and ridiculous, and he feels the situation is becoming dangerous. He suggested staggering the start times for games. Jim felt like he almost got hit by a car and noticed the issue is getting worse.

They must look at this issue, Jim stated, wondering what it will take to fix it. Jim isn’t blaming any person or group; they will all need to consider this problem.

The club, council, and police talked before. Staggering times isn’t feasible, they found, because volunteers have work commitments. Double yellow lines aren’t a preferred option.

Jamie Nicholson said talks have been extensive and they tried to sort out the parking. She says figuring it out is honestly not easy.

Annan Athletic wants drivers to park well. They also encourage walking or biking when heading to Galabank. The club knows parking is a problem at certain times.

The club takes road safety seriously around there. They told users about the parking issues, so this will hopefully make everyone think about parking. They told visitors to use the main parking lot found at the top of the MUGA.

The club urges responsible parking habits. People should think of residents and road users. The club appreciates everyone’s cooperation, which helps make the area safe for all.
