Despite concerns, officials approved the controversial South Park Industrial Estate project.

The Community Council had issues with the plan. They knew storage helps local shops, but the Council voted yes to the project on February 3rd because the area is for business.
The containers mostly hold household stuff, and they won’t allow any dangerous items. They set hours from 7 AM to 9 PM every day to protect the houses nearby.
One council member thinks the site is bad, even though it fits the plan since it is industrial land. He wished it matched South Park’s look, mentioning eighty-five separate containers.
He thinks businesses will use them a lot, perhaps painters and decorators. Nobody checks container contents, and houses stand very close. He sees a landscape problem.
Two other council members did not like it. They think too much remains unknown, and they aren’t against storage itself, just this particular location.
Another member spoke for the approving group. He thinks Peebles needs this storage space because tradesmen need places for their tools and gear.
