Tom Ormerod resigned from Pendle Council following revelations of unpaid council tax and poor attendance.

Turns out, Tom owed back council tax, totaling £3,835 over three years. He also missed lots of council meetings, attending only three after being elected in May 2023.
David Whipp, a Lib Dem councillor, issued a press statement this week, saying Tom should quit. He mentioned Tom missed 27 meetings and questioned the Tory party’s candidate choice.
Paul Preston sent the email to councillors, stating Ormerod resigned right away. They asked Ormerod and the Tories for comments, but they haven’t gotten any replies.
Colne’s Vivary Bridge ward has a by-election coming, following another Tory councillor, Kieran McGladdery, who resigned before. He felt his group didn’t back taxi safety issues.
Now, Ormerod’s resignation means another by-election happens. They haven’t set a date for it yet, though. Pendle Council was also asked for more information.
