Hey, guess what I just read? A Pennal pub is up for an award! It is the Countryside Alliance Awards. You can actually vote for them to win.

Glan yr Afon pub made the finals. They are in the pub of the year category. It’s for Wales specifically this time.

The community really rallied to save it. Matthew Rhys, the actor, helped too. They raised over £250,000! They made a Community Benefits Society.

Volunteers manage the pub now. They also employ both full-time and part-time staff. Plus, they are opening a little shop soon.

Meirion Roberts is a founding member. He said the nomination proves their hard work. They really wanted the venture to succeed. He’s super proud of the nomination.

He remembers almost losing the pub. This nomination means so much to them all. Winning would be huge for the community. They created a hub for locals and visitors. This hub is important to everyone.

People can vote in a public vote. The award ceremony will be in Cardiff Bay. The date is Tuesday, April 29, 2025. The Welsh winners go to the House of Lords. It will be in June, for the national reception.
