A petition with 21,000 signatures urges Hampshire council to keep Stubbington Study Centre open.

Lin said they got about 21,000 signatures, with nineteen thousand online and two thousand on paper. She thought that was amazing, especially because this happened in a short time, as the council allowed them little time.
She added that they had great support, including a protest march where a couple thousand people showed up. They won’t give up and still want everyone’s support. She asked people to come March 6 for the meeting that starts at 10 AM.
Councillor Hayre said they all work together and that they received amazing support. This petition happened because of new plans to close the study center in Fareham.
The center would become a children’s home. Hampshire County Council will look at the plans on Thursday, March 6, when a committee will consider public feedback. People shared feedback from January 14 to February 10.
Next, the Cabinet will consider it and make the final decision at a meeting on Tuesday, March 18. The new home would replace the old one and expand the current one at Swanwick Lodge, which houses ten children from all over.
