The old Kodak factory in Harrow closed in 2016. They demolished it in 2019 and are building new houses there.

A developer wants to tear down the office building, which has three stories and has been empty for years. They plan to build co-living units.

These units have private bedrooms and bathrooms. Residents share kitchens and living rooms. The new building will be six to eight stories tall, reaching 30 metres high.

Neighbors have objected to these plans. They worry about overdevelopment of the area and question the type of housing. The height also concerns them.

Goodstone Court residents fear blocked sunlight. Others cite limited parking and services and think the units will worsen those issues.

Some suggest a high turnover of residents might impact the area’s security. Residents claim crime is already up since redevelopment. They worry these plans will make it worse.

One person said crime increased after the Kodak site changed. They reported theft and a stabbing nearby and believe the area cannot handle more residents.

The ground floor features cycle parking, laundry, and communal space. The first floor includes a kitchen, games room, and roof terrace. Co-living units fill the remaining floors.

The other tower might reach eight stories. The ground floor has employment space, a laundry room, and bin storage. The first floor includes a gym and yoga studio. Upper floors house co-living rooms, lounges, and dining areas. The seventh floor contains a library and roof terrace.

A financial report says the project may lose money. So, they will not offer affordable housing.

However, council officers advised approving the plans. They say the project offers good accommodation and think it does not harm neighbors.

Police reviewed the plans and had no worries. Council officers said crime isn’t a planning factor. Police will decide resource allocation. The council will decide on March 12.
