New housing development proposed in Bicker, Lincolnshire, featuring 24 homes near the A52. Concerns raised over affordability and fire safety.

The land is grassy and open right now. Houses sit along Donington Road already. The A52 road runs east of the site. Trees and bushes grow at the edges there. Donington Road used to be the A52. Now the A52 goes around Bicker.
The building site is between the old and new roads. Houses face Donington Road on the west. The A52 bypass sits to the east. Existing homes and sheds are to the north and south. Plants hide these buildings somewhat.
Firefighters are not happy with the building plan. They say the access and water are not good. They want one fire hydrant installed there. A council guy, David Jolley, also has concerns about the proposal.
Only four houses will be “affordable.” Jolley says this is not enough. The council wants 20% affordable homes, five total. He wants four two-bedroom rentals. Also, he suggests one three-bedroom shared ownership house.
The new houses will likely have brick walls. They plan to agree on the brick color. Roofs will have flat gray slate tiles. This is to match nearby rural homes. The house designs aim to blend in. They want everything to look similar.
