The Plough Arts Centre marks its 50th anniversary with a series of events, including shows, exhibits and film screenings.

The center survived tough times and is hosting shows for its 50th birthday. A fun pantomime will help celebrate, with “Wotcha Gotcha – Pantomonium” showing April 11 and 12. Twenty-two locals perform in the pantomime.
It mixes Victorian, Steampunk, and British panto bits, expecting Plough-themed surprises too. The show suits ages eight to infinity. Emlyn Harris stars in the show as a panto veteran and Torrington resident.
Characters include Alice, Moriarty, and Oliver Twist and a Plough Cow appears too! Emlyn worked with many stars, among them Andrew Sachs and Ian Lavender. Barry Cryer, Bernie Winters, and Peter Davison also star, with Gary Oldman.
Emlyn moved to Torrington recently because he loved The Plough Arts Centre. He saw workshops and art opportunities there. Young panto actors also attend Plough Youth Theatre.
“Tarka the Otter” returns on April 11, and you can see the film on the big screen. The Plough wants your “Tarka” film stories. Email mail@theploughartscentre.org.uk to share.
An anniversary exhibit opens April 11 and closes May 31. This show chronicles The Plough’s journey, featuring films, shows and art, and highlighting outreach programs. Share Plough memories in a “Story Box.” A preview night happens April 10, starting at 6:30 p.m., and everyone is welcome to attend for free!
