Point Royal is a tall building in Bracknell. It’s on Rectory Road and has 102 apartments. The building has 19 floors, and it’s a Grade II listed building.

They built it in 1964, and it’s the only high-rise for social housing there. Some residents spoke about bad conditions, mentioning damp, mould, leaks, and bad lifts.

One pregnant resident said the mould ruined furniture. Baby things had to move to her dad’s, adding that the building is shocking and unliveable.

Another tenant said her flat is freezing cold, with wind howling through it. She mentioned broken buzzers and lifts, and noted that many flats have mould problems.

Tenants think there are structural issues, but Abri says the building has no structural problems. Abri claims their priority is resident well-being and that they take damp and mould reports very seriously.

Abri said scheduling repairs was hard due to tenant availability. They got four mould reports and two lift reports. Lifts are working now and get monthly service; two mould reports are still being handled.

Abri stated all buildings have issues over time. They encourage residents to report faults quickly so repairs can happen fast.

Bracknell MP Peter Swallow knows of mould issues and ventilation problems there. He asked Abri for a building tour so he can find better solutions for residents.
