A police dog uncovered an illegal device hidden by a South Durham sex offender, who violated a court order.

Allen said he lacked internet access. However, he was caught using social media, and investigators found him out. He talked to a 13-year-old and also messaged other women for sexual pleasure.
Durham’s MOSOVO team acted fast. They arrested Allen at his home. Police dog Baxter and Sergeant Cooper searched to find devices. They found a device under his mattress after detectives searched his bedroom thoroughly, hidden from view.
Allen used fake names online too, names he hadn’t given to police. The names helped him talk to people online.
Allen, 39, faced charges for communicating sexually with a child and breaking the prevention order. He admitted guilt in court last week, and sentencing happens next month.
County Durham and Darlington have 67 orders active, meaning 67 people are closely watched. They could cause sexual harm.
Please report sexual abuse if it happens. Call 101, or 999 if danger is immediate.
