Police are investigating threatening emails sent to schools in Northfleet and Gravesend, causing lockdowns and alarm.

There were many police officers in Northfleet this morning. Several schools got worrying messages, including Shears Green Infant School. The police learned about these threats and are investigating.
Shears Green Infant School, on Packham Road, got an email just before eight o’clock. Officers went to the school and talked with the staff there. Police will be in the area to reassure people.
Other nearby schools also got similar emails. Staff members received guidance from the police. Right now, police think the threat is not real, but they are still taking it seriously.
Shears Green Infant School would not talk to reporters; however, the head teacher, Matt Paterson, wrote a letter. He said the school closed temporarily as a precaution after receiving messages suggesting safety was at risk.
Reporters contacted other schools that may be involved and Kent County Council for details. Northfleet Nursery School reported receiving the email, and Copperfield Academy said they were affected too.
Several schools did not get the email. Manor Community Primary School and Nursery, Westcourt Primary and Nursery School, Wrotham Road Primary School, and Painters Ash Primary School were all unaffected.
