Hey, let me tell you about this local shop: 6 Brothers wants to sell booze. They’re located near Seven Sisters Station on West Green Road and want to sell alcohol every day from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Mohammed Rahman explained his business is doing well because people want one-stop shopping. To ensure safety, he will install CCTV, train staff, and keep an incident log. However, police think this is not enough security.

PC Francis Peters objects to the early 7 a.m. start time and suggested starting sales at 9 a.m. He knows other places open early too, but he fears more crime and potential trouble if the application is approved.

Daliah Barrett, who works for Haringey Council, stated the area already has a street drinking problem. She said some cultures drink heavily in public, often consuming strong liquor, and this gathering worries the council.

The shop’s lawyer, Nick Semper, made some offers to mitigate concerns. They could join a responsible retailer group and wouldn’t sell strong beer and cider, excluding craft or artisan products exceeding a 6.5% ABV limit.

Cllr Nick da Costa suggested another program that bans single cans of beer or cider, as well as splitting packs. Spirits smaller than 350ml would also be prohibited, an idea Mr. Rahman agreed to.

Mr. Semper argued that their offers addressed police concerns. He also stated that store demand isn’t relevant, acknowledging that many stores already offer alcohol.

The committee discussed the application and will announce their decision next week. We’ll see what happens with 6 Brothers.
