Kayleigh Williams avoids immediate jail for refusing a blood sample and other driving offenses in Wrexham.

Williams didn’t give a sample for testing. She also drove with no insurance. Her car lacked a valid test certificate too. Hannah Williams was the prosecutor.
She stated police saw Williams driving last June, specifically the 24th. Williams drove a Vauxhall erratically. Her car swerved between lanes. Police stopped her because of this.
They then checked her vehicle’s documents, finding it had no insurance or MOT. Officers noticed a cannabis smell. Williams was arrested at the scene. After arrest, she refused a blood sample for further analysis.
She had prior driving offenses, including drunk driving and driving without insurance. A probation officer spoke in court. Williams claimed a needle phobia, saying she felt afraid when asked for blood.
Pierce Blythen defended Williams. He said she knew about not having insurance or an MOT. Williams thought she had car insurance.
The insurer sent an email requiring a reply within a timeframe, which Williams missed. The insurance company cancelled it. She knew the MOT neared its end, too.
Blythen said she asked to give blood from her hand, as she preferred this to her arm because of her phobia. Her request was not accepted, and she got charged because of this.
The court gave her 24 weeks in jail; however, they suspended the sentence for 18 months. Williams must do activities for 15 days. Plus, she will do 40 hours of work.
She must pay £325 in costs too, and also a £154 surcharge. She cannot drive for three years, which is her driving ban penalty.
