A Pontypool man received a suspended sentence for possessing over 1,500 indecent images of children.

Police looked at the Acer laptop and hard drives, discovering bad images and videos involving children. The police located 178 images on the Acer laptop, and the hard drives contained a total of 1372 images.
His devices had 821 category A images, 374 category B images, and 352 other bad images of children. Officers also found some cannabis wrapped in foil at his address.
The prosecutor, Nigel Fryer, spoke about Bold’s interview. Bold gave a prepared statement to the police, claiming he used Torrent software to download movies, shows, and music. He also claimed he did not mean to download the bad images.
Bold admitted his guilt on January 9 at Cardiff Magistrates Court. He had to sign the sex offenders order when he pleaded guilty there. His lawyer, Andrew Davies, spoke in court.
Davies stated that his friend died during lockdown, so Bold used cannabis. The friend’s death and lockdown isolation still affect him, and he knows that he needs to socialize more.
Judge Celia Hughes spoke to Bold, telling him that his actions support child abuse. The court gave Bold an eight-month suspended sentence, suspended for 23 months, and he must do 30 days of rehabilitation. The court also ordered 250 hours of unpaid work and a £200 fine, all as part of his sentence.
