Ringwood Road closures will last until the summer due to ongoing road work. Motorists should expect detours and delays.

They are moving the road work to Alderney Avenue. This continues the “active travel” scheme. Wessex Water finished repairs early, so work can start. The council says the changes will help everyone.
Walking, biking, busing, or driving should be safer. Resurfacing and trees will make it nicer. They will close the southbound road from March 3, 2025. Expect closures from Alderney Roundabout to Alderney Avenue. Work should finish by summer.
A two-way bike lane will go past Alderney Roundabout. Also, they will add a toucan crossing at Herbert Avenue near the Mannings Heath roundabouts. They’re replacing a crossing by Alderney Avenue near the hospital on Ringwood Road. The new crossing will also be a toucan.
The road work might end around June next year. There will be detours, so watch for signs. This whole project started in September and the work should last until 2026 overall. The council said Ringwood Road has too much traffic and that’s why they are doing all this work, which is progressing well.
The whole project cost about £17.5 million. Lane closures caused traffic by the roundabouts. Junction work also went on at Sea View Road.
