A Tarporley man received a driving ban after speeding in Flintshire, caught driving 50 mph in a 20 mph zone.

Brian Robinson, the prosecutor, spoke in court. He said Ford drove his Porsche on the A5104. A camera caught him speeding and he drove 50 mph. The speed limit was only 20 mph. Robinson stated Ford had a valid license.
Ford’s lawyer explained he felt ashamed. Ford had driven for about 44 years and retired two years ago. He once directed retail businesses, including Iceland. Ford admitted he missed the speed limit sign.
Ford said he was going to Ruthin to visit a friend that day. He thought the road looked like a 50 mph zone. This led him to speed accidentally.
The court disagreed with Ford’s excuse. They stated the limit existed for a while and he should have known as an experienced driver. The court also said Ford drove very fast.
Ford received a driving ban for 56 days, starting right away. He also received fines of £666, a victim surcharge of £266, and must pay £110 in court costs.
