NI Water’s Meadow Lane project in Portadown is upgrading wastewater systems, reducing flood risks, and aiding local development.

The new pumping station is almost ready and is located near Meadow Lane East Car Park. Commissioning the new system starts this month.
The sewer commissioning depends on the weather. They will work briefly at each new pipeline area to connect it to the existing system. Traffic management will be like before, with short closures. Each work area closes for about one week.
First, the new sewer flows enter the station. Lisa Hughes manages the NI Water project, and she spoke about this important phase. Traffic management will change during this.
Work starts February 17th on Meadow Lane, near the health center’s service area. The northbound lane and footpath will close, lasting about one week. The Healthcare Centre Car Park stays open; use Thomas Street or Bridge Street to reach it. Access Meadow Lane from Bridge Street; this impacts properties between Bridge Street and the boat club.
Next, work moves to Meadow Lane/Portmore Street, then to Meadow Lane East Car Park’s access road. Finally, work reaches Tavanagh Avenue in mid-March. Expect changes near the Baptist Church Car Park, weather permitting.
Signs will guide drivers. NI Water posts updates on social media and will also send letters locally.
Hughes thanked everyone for their support. NI Water appreciates the community’s patience. BSG and McAdam feel thankful too, as this major upgrade continues.
The project should finish by summer 2025. It will reduce flooding risks, help local development, and improve the Portadown environment.
