Buildings used in Peaky Blinders in Portsoy are getting funding to become a creative hub for locals and tourists.

The Architectural Heritage Fund is helping out and gave money to a group in Scotland. The group is called North East Scotland Preservation Trust, and they’re working on two buildings in Portsoy.
These are at Portsoy’s old harbor; that’s where they filmed! Tom Burnett-Stuart gifted these buildings, and The Trust now owns six buildings. Locals and visitors will both get to enjoy them.
One is the Marble Warehouse, which is really special, and the other is the Marble Workshop. Remember Peaky Blinders? They filmed there in 2021, and they were important scenes!
The Marble Warehouse was built in 1765 and designed by John Adam. It used to store grain, and recently, there was a shop and pottery inside. The top floors were for storage.
The Marble Workshop is from the 1700s too, and since 1964, they’ve polished marble there. The Trust wants to make it a creative hub, and it will be called Portsoy Creative Hub.
Artists will have studios in the warehouse, which will also have a co-working spot, and the shop will stay there too. The workshop will have offices and a gallery and also a flat for an artist.
The AHF helped before with other money that was for planning. Now, they are figuring out how to do the project, and they’ll split the building into two parts. Then they’ll ask for more money.
The AHF and National Lottery Heritage Fund are partnering to help groups reuse old places. These groups are called Heritage Development Trusts, and they want to make communities better. The trusts get money and advice, which is pretty neat.
