Alan Amos works with Worcester Civic Society. They plan a plaque for Powick Old Bridge. Installation happens after bridge repairs finish up. Amos explores lottery funds for this plaque.

Daniel Daniels says Amos is quite late. His group already designed a memorial. Amos likes the design. He thinks it makes history real.

He hopes everyone shares ideas freely. The old bridge dates back to before 1447. Part of its wall fell apart last year. It shut to walkers and bikes in February 2024.

Battles happened at Powick Old Bridge. One was in 1642, at the start of fighting. Another was in 1651, at war’s end.

Daniels is glad Amos helps now. He notes Amos arrived late to discussions, though. The Society flagged bridge issues before.

Ken Potts made a memorial design, Daniels says. Potts is a sculptor and committee member. He even made Elgar’s statue.

Amos says it’s early in the process. He calls the Society a key player. Amos wants to gather parties, ideas, and funds. His goal is to get the memorial installed safely.
