Powys County Council will auction Gadair Farm after a decision by Councillor Jake Berriman. Sale details remain confidential.

Jake Berriman agreed to sell Gadair Farm. He is a Liberal Democrat councillor in Powys. The decision happened on February 10.
The council won’t share all the sale details. They are using a law from 1972 to hide them. The council thinks keeping it secret is better. It outweighs the public’s right to know.
Councillors can still challenge this decision though. They have five days to request a review. If no one objects, it starts February 18. Berriman will set the final price. He will work with a surveyor. This happens very close to the auction.
They changed the sale method for the farm. It shifted from private sale to public auction. The auction is happening quite a while later. Berriman approved the sale long ago, last year.
The council wants to make money by selling things. They need £10 million each year from selling assets. This includes selling farms owned by the county. Gadair Farm has a six-bedroom house, farm buildings, land, and woods. It has been advertised for a while now. The price was between £450,000 and £575,000. Gwilym Davies could sell it for the best price. This happened last August.
