Pretty Good Coffee opens a new takeaway hatch in Crowngate, offering coffee, tea, and snacks by the history pod.

Bradley and Kirsty own Pretty Good Coffee, while their son and daughter-in-law manage the hatch, enjoying interactions with both new and returning customers. The hatch began serving customers in November 2024.
The takeaway offers convenient service for shoppers and bus riders seeking a quick bite. It operates six days a week with hours from 10 AM to 3 PM, Monday through Thursday, and 10 AM to 2 PM on Friday and Saturday.
Crowngate assisted with the serving hatch’s installation. The hatch provides a range of options, including coffee, tea, cakes, toasties, and both hot and cold sandwiches.
Liam Ames, co-owner with Sam Hunt, notes the frequent return of customers. They attribute this loyalty to their special coffee blend, crafted by Buxton Roasteries. This exclusive roast, originating from Brazil, is available only at Pretty Good Coffee.
Ems Bakes and Cakes, along with Pullins Bakery, supply the cakes on offer. The Angel Place shop, which opened last September, continues to operate alongside the new hatch location.
Liam and Sam invested in the venture after Brad and Kirsty presented the initial idea. Following the previous owner’s decision to sell, the coffee shop underwent a comprehensive makeover, including new furniture and a cozy decor.
A new logo is in development and will soon be displayed at both locations. Plans for merchandise are also underway to further enhance the brand.
Liam emphasizes that quality is the key differentiator for Pretty Good Coffee. They meticulously source fine coffee and tea, and also offer fine teas, hot chocolate, smoothies, and milkshakes. Their unwavering focus on quality reflects their commitment to ensuring a great customer experience.
