Drainage improvements start near Prudhoe station to combat flooding. Road closures and parking changes are expected.

The council says fixing it has been tricky. They needed to change the drainage system. They also needed agreements for private land access. Network Rail had to approve the work, too.
The rail line is very close by. The council will now bypass a broken culvert. This is after agreeing with Network Rail. They will install a large pipe. The pipe runs from one manhole to another. It goes through the car park.
Work starts March 3rd in the railway station car park. They think it will last about three weeks. During this time, ten parking spots will close. This keeps buses and taxis running smoothly.
Station Road will shut on March 23rd. It’s the part from Glendinning’s junction to the tracks. It will be closed for up to seven weeks. The one-way system near Glendinning’s stays open.
Cars and small vans cannot use the level crossing. They must detour via Ovingham. They can use the bridge to reach the Country Park. Businesses north of the tracks are also accessible.
Trucks over 3.5 tonnes get escorted through the site. They can use the level crossing. This allows access to businesses up north. The Ovingham Bridge has a three-tonne limit anyway.
The council will have traffic staff there all the time. They will stay until the project finishes up. Road work has impacted it for years. Securing work permits was complex. Now work can really begin.
