Seagulls are terrorizing Altham! Residents live in fear as birds drop bones, damage property, and cause health concerns.

It gets worse: folks can’t hang clothes to dry. One local company lost cash because birds ruined stock. Gary Hough started “Tipped Over The Edge” and says about 5,000 gulls gather there in summer. Gary states the situation keeps getting worse.
He said the problem is now constant, all day long. Car cleaning never ends, nor garden enjoyment either. Bone bits and waste land on cars and gardens.
The problem came after a council deal with SUEZ Recycling. SUEZ deals with waste for 12 areas at Whitney Hill. Gary’s group wants waste transfers suspended. They don’t want to kill any seagulls.
Julie Birtwell’s dog got sick from eating something a gull dropped. There are way more trucks moving waste now. Rob Ross manages Greengate Builders Merchants. He says the droppings damaged his supplies.
Waste amounts create health risks for his staff. SUEZ apologizes for the issues. They blame inland bird migration after Covid.
Richard Phillips confirmed they are taking measures. Their goal is to reduce the seagull population. The Environment Agency knows this causes worry. They recognize the distress and issues. The Sun reached out to the county council for their response.
