The council wrapped up tree planting last week. They held two planting events with local people. Since December, they planted 313 new trees, and replaced 43 dead trees, bringing the total to 356 trees.

Reading is on track to plant 3,000 new trees by 2030. The council set this goal four years ago as part of their tree strategy, aiming for more trees and a greener town.

People from the Weller Centre planted three trees at Amersham Road Recreation Ground. This year, they have planted nine trees at the park. Eighteen cherry trees now line Westfield Recreation Ground, creating a cherry tree avenue.

Councillors and the Windrush group planted five palm trees on the Chatham Street roundabout. The event was meaningful for the Windrush community, and the Mayor, a Windrush descendant, attended.

They planted 83 Acer and English Oaks at John Rabson park. Thirty-five more trees went along Shirley Avenue. The council waters new trees for two years, helping them grow strong.

The council wants Reading to be nicer and greener. Planting 356 trees shows dedication, and their team works hard for a greener Reading.

The council wants residents to suggest planting spots. Anyone can suggest a tree location, with the council considering location suitability and aiming for balance across town. They focus on areas needing more trees and are already taking requests for next year.
