Hey, something sad happened. They are building homes on Amethyst Lane. The council hired some contractors for it. The project includes affordable homes and care.

A 36-year-old man was hurt at the construction site. Sadly, he died from his injuries on Sunday, February 23rd.

He reportedly fell through a trench floor. People gave him first aid right away and then, they took him to the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

Authorities are now investigating this incident, and the council has shared their condolences. They are cooperating fully, assisting the police and HSE on site.

The victim’s name is currently being kept private. The site once held a support center and a council planning office, which closed around 2016.

The plans include ten three-bedroom houses and seven more with four bedrooms. All houses offer affordable rent for families on the waiting list. The site was previously a day care center.
