Reading Council outlines their 2025-28 priorities. They seek public input on goals for communities and economic success.

The plan lists five key priorities. First, they will build fairer communities and focus on affordable housing. Second, they will secure economic success and improve Reading’s culture.
Third, the council wants a healthy environment and will aim for sustainability. Fourth, they want to support adults and children and plan to protect their health and well-being.
Fifth, the council wants to work efficiently and be ready for the future. They ask for feedback via a survey online.
The council plans to build new homes, which will be energy-efficient, and improve social housing satisfaction. They aim to help people who are homeless and will work closely with other groups.
The council wants 825 new homes built each year and will work with nearby councils. They will improve roads and other infrastructure and still plan to reach net zero by 2030. They will change waste and recycling services.
Children’s services will have more direct oversight as the council wants to improve life. This includes life for both paid and unpaid carers, and Council services should be easy to access. They want to spend money wisely and will try to attract a good workforce.
The survey asks for more ideas and wants to know how to improve. The council has asked this question for each priority. Give your views via the Go Vocal website as the survey closes on Sunday, February 23. The town’s vision remains the same, and the council will discuss the plan on February 25.
