Miriam Virgo worked at Reading police station. A jury found her guilty on September 24, 2024, at Salisbury Crown Court. The verdict they reached was unanimous.

On February 14, Winchester Crown Court sentenced Virgo. She received 35 days of unpaid work and an eight-week curfew from 9 PM to 6 AM.

The court ordered Virgo to pay £600 and a £95 victim surcharge. A five-year restraining order was also issued.

Virgo was suspended while the court case continued. Deputy Chief Constable Ben Snuggs commented on the case, stating her behavior was unacceptable. She was convicted for harassment.

Snuggs said incidents like this hurt public trust. Misconduct proceedings will follow in March. He hopes this shows they take action to keep public trust in the police.

Thames Valley Police investigated Virgo’s actions. This led to the court case and her conviction. Misconduct proceedings will now decide her future within the police force.

The public will learn the results later. The police are committed to high standards and expect this from all officers and staff.
