New restaurants and cafes are heading to Reading in 2025 for a variety of dining options available. Some are opening now.

Lincoln Coffee House is coming to Kings Road. It sits across from Starbucks and Costa Coffee. It will offer ethically sourced coffee. A professional roaster will hand roast the beans. The shop is near The Oracle’s entrance. It replaces Workhouse Coffee, closed in 2024. This expands the existing Lincoln Coffee House.
The Cosy Club plans to open this Spring. It is a restaurant and bar chain, and this will be their first Reading location. They are moving into The Oracle on Minster Street where Lakeland and Artisans used to be. The space has been empty since 2021.
Lane 7 is building a bowling alley and arcade. It’s taking over the old Mothercare on King Street. Mothercare closed back in 2019. Lane 7 has many venues in the UK and Europe. This complex will occupy two floors, including the ground floor and basement.
Urban Fun is opening in Broad Street Mall. It is a family entertainment center spanning 15,000 square feet. It replaces the vaccine center and New Look store. Up to 400 people can visit, enjoying arcade games and an eatery. They swapped bowling lanes for pool tables.
Fat Hippo wants to open at Jackson’s Corner. It is a burger chain whose initial plans faced some problems. The council approved revised plans in January. Fat Hippo has concessions at Lane 7 venues too.
