Socks On Records, Peterborough, hopes to expand its reach to Grantham, encouraging local music scene involvement.

The label is a not-for-profit group. It started in Peterborough. They want to expand to Grantham now, hoping more local bands will get involved. The goal is to promote music in the community.
Simon Bailey and Stephen Potter co-founded the label. Simon says big artists and fans feel disconnected, but believes local talent is incredible. Unsigned bands play music as a hobby, and connecting with listeners feels great.
Bringing four artists to Grantham will be fun and is a chance to meet music fans. They want to find people to help them, and hope to create more music opportunities too.
Simon and Stephen are in the band Das Kapitans. They made the label in 2021. Their band wrote and released one album monthly, and this happened all in a single year.
They initially wanted a Bandcamp page to show off their artists. The label became one that arranges gigs, and weekend events were a natural progression.
The main goal is a safe space for bands and music fans. Simon recalls sharing music as a kid, making mix tapes and handing out flyers then.
Things changed with the internet’s rise. People feel distant despite being connected so they want to bridge old ways with the new.
The label has sixteen signed artists from various cities. These include Peterborough, Sheffield and London bands having played in Italy and other UK towns.
They have more gigs planned this year. The performances are set in Peterborough, Stamford, and other places. They want Grantham bands to join them and play at more Grantham venues.
The show at The Tap starts at 7 PM. Entry is free for everyone. Find them on Facebook for more details. Connect, listen, share, and join the community.
