Widdington Recycling seeks approval after facing action for alleged breaches of regulations.

The council told them to fix some problems last December. The company was breaking rules from 2013. They are appealing this decision now. The council wants them to remove some buildings. These are the waste sorting building and a weighbridge. Also a concrete mixer, walls, and fencing need removal.
People complained about bad smells and many pests. The site stored household and garden waste. They only had permission for demolition waste. Council workers found lots of household waste there. They even saw that another council sent waste there.
Now, the site says it will only take construction waste. This is because of complaints that people made. One councilor said the smell was terrible. An assessment says smells should not be an issue.
Last week, the town council had a meeting. They want any inquiry to happen in Haverhill. Then local businesses can share their views. The new request addresses some past issues. This includes the layout and missing plants.
Waste piles could be up to four meters tall. This was a rule before, but they broke it. Work hours would be 6am to 6pm weekdays. Saturdays it would be 6am to 2pm. No work happens on Sundays or holidays. Ten full-time and five part-time people work there.
Their statement calls the facility a good fit for the site. They will make the access road fully paved. It leads straight to the main building.
