The Red Arrows wowed crowds in the Highlands & Moray with spectacular training flights from RAF Lossiemouth & Tain Range.

The team flew into RAF Lossiemouth on Monday, coming from their base at RAF Waddington. Tuesday’s training happened over Dornoch Firth, as well as Easter Ross and Sutherland.
The weather was great, with sunshine making viewing pleasant as people watched from the ground. The Red Arrows showcased many acrobatic feats during these exercises on Tuesday.
Three training sessions occurred above Tain Range on Tuesday, with one session remaining at the time of writing. More flights are scheduled to happen on Wednesday and Thursday, dependent on the weather. Then, the team jets back south.
The squadron’s visit comes almost a year since their last training, when they also trained over the Highlands and Moray.
They conducted flights in formations with different numbers of jets, including formations with five jets, seven jets, or even just two. The famous smoke trails appeared during the exercises as they did full inversions and headed skyward before racing back.
The Red Arrows completed a loop, leaving a vapour trail that was seen near Tain’s Links. The sun and blue skies helped the vapour trails stand out as the squadron was doing training exercises.
